"Microtome" is a very thin slice-of-life, in this case, my own. It's time-line is roughly from the summer of 1962 to the fall of 1996.
This story, in slightly different versions, has appeared in several web zines--most recently, in The Morpo Review; it has also made it into print in an ink-and-paper magazine. I'm republishing it here to answer numerous requests.
